Day at the Museum

Hi, it’s Erin speaking. Yesterday, Bella and I went to the museum. But first we got on a train and rode it to the museum. It took a half hour. When we finally arrived, we got free passes, because the first Monday of each month, everyone gets in free. So we went up stairs and first we learned about coal. Did you know that trees get buried under ground and get cut off from oxygen? And that is where coal comes from. Next, we went in to the skeleton room. And saw a bunch of skeletons from different animals. Like the wooly mammoth, buffalo, saber tooth tiger, and the horse. One of the interesting things I thought about the horse was that it was that it started out with little fingers but over time, it got hooves. There was also some stuff that felt like sand. And Bella and I built a dam with it, and mine was stronger. Well, it held up longer, but eventually it broke. Then we learned about the Anastasians, and that it took 500 man hours to build one model of one of their houses. Bella and I thought it was pretty cool. Then we saw a lady that talked about how the Anastasias would make knives with rocks, and how they made clothes, and lots of stuff then we went down to the dinosaur exhibit. And saw skeletons of dinosaurs. Then we went in to a dark scary cave and something popped up in front of me and I screamed. So we left and we took a train to the library and it was 7 stories high.  Because it had a few stores in it, so I call it a mini-mall. Then we took a train back home. -Erin

the train and museum

Hi, it's Bella. Yesterday, I had my first train ride. It was great.
My Dad wanted to take me and Erin to the Museum of Natural History. So he asked if we wanted to take the train, and we said yes. So Erin and I got a backpack and packed cookies, sandwiches and water. Then finally, we got on the train - it was amazing. It was one hour before we reached the museum. It was a two story high museum on the University of Utah campus. I learned about the Anasazi People, we also went to a booth where a lady talked about a lot of interesting stuff. She showed us a scale model of an Anasazi dwelling (check out all the pictures at that link) that took five hundred man hours to make. Then we ate lunch outside, then we went back in the museum and saw the dinosaur exhibit. We also looked at skeletons of a saber tooth tiger. Then, we saw a skeleton of a mini-horse, smaller then a donkey. It was cool. We also learned about coal. Did you know that coal came from trees? The trees would get buried in the ground and lose moisture, and oxygen and get compressed, and eventually, turn into coal. We also got to make an earthquake - you had to stomp on the x to make a vibration that was registered by a seismogram - some sensitive equipment that measures vibrations and tracks earthquakes. Then we got back on the train and went to the library - 5 stories high, the biggest I had ever seen. It was kind of like a mini-mall. It was super cool so we all looked at a few books. Then we had to go home. We were all tired. That was the time I went on a train for the first time.  -Bella

Swimming

Hi, I just want to tell you I went swimming with my friends and my sister. It was a blast, there was a play ground in the pool and a whirlpool. It also had a waterslide. We played water tag, water chase, and we relaxed . We also played Marko Polo. That was fun. Then we had to go. So we went and got in a nice hot shower then put are clothes on and went to our friend's house. Then we went home.

Flicka my book

Hi again. I'm reading a book called Flicka. It's about a girl in school and she owns a mountin ranch. She day dreames adout the horses on it and can not focus. It gets her in troudle at school. So when she gets back to the ranch she is so happy she takes a walk and sees a mountin lion.  but no one can hear her scream. Then a wild stallon comes to her rescue and scares the lion off.

Well, I will write more when I read more.

Blue Pictures

Today, we wanted to put a nice picture of Bella on the blog. So we used the Olympus Stylus 760 in the office. We had pretty good light, but the flash went off anyway. The picture looked very blue.... awful.
Then we tried again, after disabling the flash. Here are the results.

Before and after. As you can see, the one without the flash cam out much better.

Good boy....

Here are some cute pictures of our dog, Shadow. He is a long-haired dachshund, we call him a sausage.
Enjoy!

Let's Make a Movie

Today, we decided we wanted to make a movie. So we did. Here it is, in two parts.

We want to get much better at this, so we are going to blog what we learn, so you can learn with us. Hopefully, the next video will be much better. We have a lot to learn.
Today's lesson was...
  • Shoot a movie
  • Import that clip to the computer
  • Edit the movie
  • Upload the Movie to YouTube
  • Move the Movie to this blog.
  • Start working on our new Website - EBTV.info
We are also going to set up a movie appreciation and movie making group at our local library. Stay tuned
